VIDEO
DEBUNKING THE MYTH
DO WE SWALLOW SPIDERS IN OUR SLEEP?
Product: MythBusters video
Tools: After Effects, Illustrator, Audition, Media Encoder and Premiere Pro.
Goal: The goal of the project was to create a 45-second 2D Mythbusters-style animation, using royalty-free background music, recorded voiceover, strategically placed audio effects, and motion graphics.
1. Research and ideation
My approach began with an investigation of various myths and myth-busting videos.
After my investigation was done, I opted to create a video that would dismiss the myth that we eat roughly eight spiders during sleep (which is false), and I wrote a script for the video.
My intention with the script was to make it funny and informative.
2. Defining the animation style and color palette, and gathering and creating video and audio assets.
After the script was finalized, I created a mood board and a color palette for the video. Then, I gather royalty free images from adobe stock images, and I edited the images using illustrator and photoshop
3. Putting it all together
Once the process of gathering images and the script were finalized, I recorded the script and looked for sound effects, there was one popping sound effect that I had to create using adobe audition.
I put all the sequences together and made a walking cycle for the final scene using Adobe After Effects.
Final Thoughts:
I had a lot of fun researching and coming up with ideas for the video.
It was really interesting to find ways to blend humor and education in the script, and it challenged me to think creatively.
Gathering and editing the video and audio assets was a bit challenging at times, but it also helped me become more resourceful.
Bringing everything together in Adobe After Effects was a learning curve, but seeing the final result and the animated walking cycle was very rewarding.
